This learning module discusses all phases of gathering credit information – from the legal right to do so, to the reason(s) why it is important, to setting up the process. Topics covered include the Legal and Ethical Aspects of Credit Investigation, Opening a New Credit Account, Direct and Indirect Credit Investigation, Investigating Existing Accounts and International Credit Investigation. After successful completion of this learning module the student should understand how to conform to the legal requirements and ethical principles of credit investigation, what to do when opening a new credit account, the difference between a direct credit investigation and an indirect credit investigation, how to gather information in direct and indirect credit investigations, how to gather foreign credit information, the importance of conducting credit investigations on existing accounts and how the internet can help in credit investigation.
Speaker Bio:
Debie Wangsgard, CCE, has a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Westminster College and has been working in the field of credit for over 32 years , first working in the construction industry, and then as the Corporate Credit Manager for Swire Coca Cola, and most recently for Stock Building Supply in the Credit Training Department. She was recognized as Instructor of the year in 2008 by NACM Business Credit Services. She has given numerous seminars, online webinars, and developed over 40 training programs to strengthen credit managers in their profession and has taught CAP classes for Salt Lake Community College.
