Business Credit Principles

The impact that the terms and conditions of sale have on an organization’s operation is significant.  The material presented in this module focuses on payment terms; from a legal standpoint the words “terms” and “conditions” are used interchangeably.  Topics covered in this learning module include the Application of a Seller’s Credit Policies to its Terms; Contractual Considerations with Respect to Terms; Antitrust Implications; Factors Which Influence Terms and Conditions; Categories of Terms of Payment; Special Terms; and Export Terms.  After successful completion of this learning module the student should understand the role played by terms in day-today business transactions; the major factors that influence terms; the key elements of terms; the types of terms and how they differ; and the impact of payment timing and discounts on profitability.

Speaker Bio:

Toni Drake, CCE received her BBA Degree in Business Management from Angelo State University in 1981, and she has served in the Credit and Collection profession since that time.  Toni currently works for TRM Financial Services, Inc., which services companies in the area of business credit.  Her background has been concentrated in oil and gas credit, having been employed with such companies as Continental Emsco and Wilson Industries. 

She has taught NACM CAP courses as well as participated in various seminars as a speaker. 

Ms. Drake has been an active member of NACM since 1983, and currently serves as Vice-Chairman, Southern Region, for NACM-National.
